Jellison Cancer Institute. This was her second major gift, bringing her total contribution to just north of $21 million.

Philanthropy is a Milman Kover family tradition made possible through her family’s successful commercial real estate business, and a philosophy that, if you have the means to help others, you must.

Susan chose to make a gift and name the outpatient cancer pavilion at the Jellison Cancer Institute in part from observing firsthand the emotional and physical toll that leaving home for treatment had on her friends. She recognized that helping SMH bring coordinated, comprehensive cancer care to our community would benefit patients and families for generations.

The new facility will be named the Milman-Kover Cancer Pavilion, honoring Alan K. Milman, Natalie Kover Milman and Morris Milman, and Arthur and Fay Kover. “This was the ideal opportunity I was seeking to honor my family,” Susan says. “Making this gift now also allows me to see the impact the care provided at the Milman-Kover Cancer Pavilion will have on so many lives.”

The Milman-Kover Cancer Pavilion, which will offer comprehensive outpatient cancer services, is currently under construction on Sarasota Memorial’s Sarasota campus and slated to open in late 2025. Susan’s latest donation will be used specifically to support the operations of the new pavilion, which will house an expanded breast health center with the latest mammography, ultrasound, stereotactic and nuclear medicine technology. Additional services will include outpatient surgery, advanced HDR brachytherapy, radiation oncology, infusion, and diagnostic imaging, plus oncology physician practices and integrative care clinics.

“Susan has been a generous supporter and friend of the Healthcare Foundation for years, and one of the first to recognize the importance of providing comprehensive cancer care close to home,” says Healthcare Foundation President Stacey Corley.

“She truly understands how vital it is to have a state-of-the-art cancer center with the support and compassionate care of a top-notch cancer team in the place we love to call home.”

“I want to express our sincere gratitude to Susan, whose latest gift will help us expand and enhance our cancer services at the new pavilion,” says Sarasota Memorial Health Care System President and CEO David Verinder. “Her generosity has created a legacy that will benefit cancer patients and families well into the future.”

Susan believes her gift will bring peace of mind to cancer patients and families, and help advance SMH’s ability to develop new treatments and possibly cures for cancer.

“I hope others will join me in supporting this important initiative,” Susan adds.

Learn more about the Brian D.
